Solarkiosk Tanzania team visits Vikawe Primary School
Solarkiosk Tanzania team members have recently visited the Vikawe Primary School, which is in one of the Solarkiosk locations implemented this year in a rural area just north of Dar es Salaam. With the help of local teachers and administrators, several Solarkiosk team members were able to organize a session with the pupils in order to distribute notebooks and pens, as well as raise awareness about the health and safety benefits of solar energy.
Most households in Vikawe still depend on fossil fuels for their lighting and energy needs. This exposes inhabitants, particularly women and children, to significant health and safety risks indoors, which can be averted with better and sustainable alternatives. This message was conveyed through the locally-produced ‘Solar King’ comic book that was shared with the school and read by the kids. The Solarkiosk Tanzania team received tremendous support from the Vikawe school and were invited to join future school festivities. The team will continue the cooperation with local schools in order to help spread the message about solar energy across the region.
We are looking forward to the next edition of the ‘Solar King’ comic book!!
