EKOCENTER powered by SOLARKIOSK — Cooperation with Ericsson and Tigo Rwanda
The telecommunication company ERICSSON and mobile service provider TIGO Rwanda will cooperate with the EKOCENTER powered by SOLARKIOSK project on a pilot effort to enable rural Internet and 3G mobile connectivity in rural Rwanda.
Ericsson will initially deploy its Managed Rural Coverage (MRC) solution to provide Internet services to the Ekocenters in rural Rwanda. The company’s TV Anywhere service will provide access to education and healthcare content as well as infotainment capabilities, enabling the kiosk to become a connected hub. Ericsson will also enable its M-Commerce solution that enables people to make transactions using their mobile wallets.
The aim of the cooperation is to set the stage for enabling high-speed connectivity and services at further Ekocenter locations throughout Rwanda and beyond.
